We’re halfway through our financial year, which began on April 1, 2014. If you watched the video from my last post – Where does our money comes from? – you’ll remember that since health care spending represents about 47 per cent of the provincial budget, our annual funding increases are smaller than in the past. This year we received a 1.6 per cent boost to $3.2 billion.
How do we spend that money?
In this video, I break down the budget by Community of Care and corporate areas and touch on some strategies to balance our budget: continuing our focus on quality care, looking for savings in supplies and shifting from acute to community care.
